Data Safe

Data Safe keeps your data when you are closing your account but do not want your history destroyed.

What it is for

Accessibility work produces a record worth keeping even when you stop scanning: what was wrong, when you fixed it, and what the scores were. That record is the evidence if a client, a regulator or a tender ever asks what you did.

Data Safe exists for exactly that. You stop paying for a plan, you keep the history.

What it costs

An annual fee, shown on screen when you choose it. You pay when you opt in and again each year to keep it.

What you get

  • Your websites, scans, results and reports are retained rather than deleted
  • You can still sign in and download exports

It is preservation, not a plan. Scanning and the rest of the portal come back when you subscribe again.

Renewing

It runs for a year and then needs renewing. You are reminded before it expires, and there is a short grace period after the date if a payment is late.

If it lapses past that grace period, the data is removed. Keep the card current and make sure the reminder reaches somebody who is still at the company.

Whether it is worth it

Ask one question: if somebody asked in two years what you had done about accessibility, would you want the record?

  • Probably worth it if you have an obligation, a client relationship, or a long remediation history you may need to evidence.
  • Probably not if you scanned a couple of times and moved on.

There is a free alternative that covers many cases: take the exports. They are yours to keep permanently at no cost and contain your scans, results and issues as ordinary spreadsheet data. Data Safe keeps everything live in the platform; an export is a copy in your own hands. For a lot of people the export is enough.

Choosing it
