When to use more than one workspace

A workspace holds websites, people and settings. Most customers need exactly one, and a second one costs you more than it looks.

How many you can have

PlanWorkspaces

Starter1
Professional25
EnterpriseUnlimited

Creating extra workspaces requires your own subscription, so it is not available to someone who only belongs to a workspace that another account owns.

When a second one is worth it

  • Unrelated clients. If you are an agency and client A should never learn that client B exists, separate workspaces give you that. Each has its own team list and its own websites.
  • Genuinely separate teams. Different departments that share nothing and should not see each other's results.
  • A clean boundary you can hand over. If you might one day pass an account to the client themselves, having it already separate makes that a simple conversation.

When it is a mistake

Do not use workspaces to organise your own sites. One workspace with per-website access does the same job better. Multiple workspaces mean switching constantly, no single view of where you stand, and a real chance of scanning something in the wrong place.

If your reason is "these are our marketing sites and these are our product sites", you want one workspace. See Limiting access to specific websites.

The catch worth knowing

Your people allowance is counted across every workspace you own, not per workspace. Ten workspaces do not give you ten teams. If you add someone to three workspaces they still occupy one place, because the count is by person, but the total across all of them is what your plan caps.
