Which credits get used first, and when they expire

Credits arrive in batches, each with its own expiry date. The order they are spent in is chosen to waste as little as possible.

The spending order

  1. Bonus and promotional credits first. The ones you were given rather than the ones you paid for.
  2. Then whatever expires soonest.

The effect is that credits you paid for are the last to be touched, and credits about to expire are used before they are lost. You do not have to manage any of this.

How long they last

Credits are valid for 365 days, whether given or bought. The clock starts when they reach your balance, which for given credits means when you claim them.

The warning

We notify you seven days before a batch expires, so there is time to use it. You can control how that reaches you in your notification preferences. If credits matter to you, leave that one switched on.

What expiry looks like

Expired credits appear in your history as an expiry entry, with the amount and the date. Your balance is never silently reduced: there is always a line explaining it.

Avoiding waste

  • Claim entitlements when you get them, rather than letting them sit unclaimed and forgotten.
  • Check the expiry column occasionally, not just the total.
  • Buy packs when you have work planned, rather than stocking up far in advance.
