A scan moves through several stages. Here is what each one means and what you can do while it is there.
Show the scan page while actively scanning, with the progress indicator, pages being tested, and the time remaining estimate.
Crawling Site
We are following links to build the list of your pages. Nothing is being checked yet. You can cancel if it is taking longer than you want on a large site.
Awaiting Page Selection
Discovery is done and the scan is waiting for you. Nothing happens until you make a selection, so if a scan seems stuck, this is the first thing to check. See Choosing which pages to scan.
Queued, then Scanning
Your scan is waiting for its turn, then the automated checks run against your selected pages. The scan page shows each page as it is tested and an estimate of the time remaining. Nothing for you to do.
Automated Scan Complete
Your automated results are ready: issue list and report. There is no score, because no Expert Manual Review has been done. If you want one, see Getting your score.
Show the scan results page showing the "Automated Scan Complete" status with the issue summary and no score yet.
Under Expert Review
Only if you have requested and paid for an Expert Manual Review. A specialist is working through it, and the scan page shows their progress.
Expert Review Complete
The review is finished. Your score, risk band and the specialist's full audit are shown, and your report becomes the Expert-Verified version.
If a scan looks stuck
Work down this list before contacting us, because the first two explain most cases:
- Is it waiting for you to choose pages? By far the most common answer.
- Is it Automated Scan Complete with no score? That is a finished scan. A score needs an Expert Manual Review.
- Did discovery find anything? If it returned nothing, something is probably blocking automated visitors. See What happens during discovery.
- Has it shown Scanning for far longer than its estimate? Something may have gone wrong.
If none of those fit, contact support and include the website name and roughly when you started the scan.
