Back To App Documentation Accessibility Scanning Getting an expert review While your review is in progress

While your review is in progress

Once your quote is approved and paid, a specialist starts work on the scan you requested a review for.

What they do

They go through all 49 WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria, one by one. For each, they check your pages using automated results as a starting point, then by hand: with a keyboard alone, with screen readers, zoomed in, and by reading the content. They record a pass, a fail or not applicable for each criterion, with notes where something needs explaining. They also carry out the extra WCAG 2.2 and best practice checks.

Following progress

While the review is under way, the scan shows Under Expert Review, and its results page shows a Manual Review Progress bar with how many criteria have been answered so far.

When it is finished

The scan changes to Expert Review Complete. Your score, risk band and full expert audit appear on its results page, and its report becomes the Expert-Verified version. You will get a Service Completed notification when the service is marked complete.

While you wait

  • Do not delete the scan. A scan with a service request on record cannot be deleted, and this is why.
  • You can keep scanning. New scans of the website do not affect the review. They are separate scans.
  • Large changes to the site during a review can make parts of it out of date by the time it arrives. If a redesign is imminent, tell us.

How long it takes

It is done by a person, so it takes longer than a scan. Your quote gives the timeline. If you have a deadline, say so when you request the review.
