Every score comes with a risk band. The band is set directly from the score, so the same score always gives the same band.
| Band | Score | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Low Risk | 90 to 100 | Nearly all applicable requirements are met. Fix what remains, and keep scanning so it stays this way. |
| Needs Attention | 70 to 89 | Real problems that will affect some visitors. Not an emergency, but not something to leave for next year. |
| High Risk | 40 to 69 | Significant barriers. Some people will be unable to complete things on your site. Worth planning work now. |
| Critical Risk | 0 to 39 | Serious, widespread barriers. Treat as urgent, particularly if you have a legal or contractual obligation. |
The boundaries include the lower number, so a score of exactly 90 is Low Risk and exactly 70 is Needs Attention.
In your report
The Expert-Verified report also states a conformance status in its executive summary:
| Score | Conformance status |
|---|---|
| 90 and above | Substantially Conformant |
| 70 to 89 | Partially Conformant |
| Below 70 | Non-Conformant |
What a band is not
- Not a legal opinion. Low Risk is strong evidence of good practice. It is not a guarantee against a complaint or claim.
- Not a verdict on your whole site, only on the pages in the reviewed scan.
- Not a measure of how many issues you have. It follows the score, which counts requirements, not instances.
Why a score of 100 is rare
Almost every real site fails at least one requirement somewhere. A score in the 90s after a review is a good result. Aim to understand every failing criterion in your expert audit, rather than chasing the last few points.
